Description victorl 2007-02-02 02:34:29 UTC
Opening the attached document (see http-link) takes an enormous amount of time
on a dual-core 2GHz Athlon CPU. The soffice.bin process just sits there doing
nothing (task manager shows that it utilizes 0 percent of CPU time and 30
megabytes of memory) for three minutes or so. Then the document finally opens
properly (note that it's not that huge at all).
Also note that this document is protected and contains a hyperlink to an image
with an address starting with 'http://192.168.0.4/', which is most likely
non-existent (but I'm not really sure that's the case of the major slowdown).

Just to clarify: the cells in this document are protected from modifying, not
the whole document. Sorry for inconvenience and bug-spamming.

Hi Mathias,

the problem is that the file contains six Pictures located on a server which
could not be reached. Daniel told me that something like this is on your
construction site. Please have a look at this one.

Yes, we are working on an improved handling of linked graphics in Writer that
doesn't block while the graphics are loaded. Once this implementation is done
they could be applied to that drawing layer code also. It is not decided yet who
will do this so for the time being I will keep this issue in my intray.

First me must check if the hyperlinks are the only problem here. Frank, can you
confirm that removing the hyperlinks allows to load the file as fast as usual?
Comment 5 frank 2007-02-05 09:42:42 UTC
Yes, removing the six pictures results in a fast opnening document.

OK, so we will wait until Oliver has done his work for Writer and then decide
how to proceed. For the time being I will keep this issue in my intray.
