Grid color can be changed in Tools.Options.OpenOffice.Appearance. For the aspects named by "it would be nice..." please file an "Enhancement" issue. These will be handled apart from each other. Problem, that the grid does not line up when st to e.g. 1/8 inch can be confirmed. Thas will be handled in this issue. MRU->OS: Set the grid to e.g. 0.12 or 0.13", one point subdivision. Set zoom to 200% and see that when drawing e.g. a rectangle that it does not match with the positions of the grid points. >Grid color can be changed in Tools.Options.OpenOffice.Appearance.
Sorry I did eventually find this.
However: I don't know much you guys are working with IBM's Open Client thing,
but they are integrating Write into LotusNotes/Eclipse somehow. I bring this up
because the Tools->Options menu entry is missing. This is probably their
mistake, but it might be good to put many of these options in more prominent
(and convenient) places.
If you really draw in write, you are going to want to change the grid settings
frequently, so this at the very least should be quickly accessible (it is in Word).
*** Issue 87394 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org". The ruler subdivision in all office-apps is consistently silly. If you use inch measurement, the convention everywhere else is to subdivide the inch by halving, then halving the subdivision again successively to the desired precision. 1/2", 1/4", 1/8" 1/16", etc. When you set the ruler in OpenOffice to show inches, it will consistently divide the inch into 10 equal parts. When using metric units, the convention is to subdivide a unit in 10 smaller units. When you set the ruler to show cm, it will consistently divide the cm in 4 equal parts, with a bolder mark for the half cm. One sensible option is to use the normal conventions, as outlined above. Another one is to have the subdivision follow the grid, although this may be messed up if grid measurement does not match ruler measurement. (The measurement unit settings for grid, horizontal ruler and vertical ruler are independent.) |
