Description jhallen 2007-04-02 19:02:00 UTC
There should be an option (which should be the default, IMHO) so that a text box
in a drawing just matches the size of the text.

99% of the time in a drawing, I want to click the cursor somewhere and just type
text. I don't even want to know about a text box.

Currently, if you have a drawing text box, the text box will grow when you enter
more text than it could actually keep. This does not happen if you have a
rectangle e.g. The one is a text box - the other is a rectangle; they should be
treated differently.

Closed, the behavior of drawing rectangles is designed to behave differently
from a text box - and its good!

I think, that this is a valid enhancement request. In Draw you have two ways to
tread a text box.
(1) Choose tool and click. The text box gets the property "fit width to text"
marked. The box will be expanded in width while you are writing.
(2) Choose tool and drag an area. The test box gets the property "fit width to
text" unchecked. When you write text, the text will break at the box edges.

In Writer you have only the possibility (2). If you try (1) you will immediately
leave the text box edit modus.
Therefore it is a valid request, that the tool 'text box' acts in Writer in the
same way than in Draw.
It has nothing to do with rectangles.

OK, I didn't fully understand the initial description.
