Description tassou 2007-04-26 16:21:14 UTC
Unrecoverable corrupted ODT file after pasting some content from Word 2000.
Here is how to reproduce the bug the easy way :

1) copy from MS Word some text as well as some equations
2) In OOo, past it as RTF
3) save ODT file, close openoffice.
4) Load the ODT file : it is corrupted and there is no indication of where in
the xml the bug is. File is unrecoverable.

IMPORTANT : This does NOT affect OpenOffice 2.1 !

Hello,

can you open attached file plop.odt with openoffice 2.2 ? I ran the test on both
windows and linux and I could not load it.
I reproduced the procedure on 2 systems :
- Windows XP + Word 2000 + OpenOffice 2.2
- Windows 2000 + Word 2000 + OpenOffice 2.2

Both of them resulted in ODT files that OOo 2.2 was not able to open.

I insist on the fact that OOo 2.1 CAN open such a file.

Strange... that file (plop.doc) doesn't open, however I can confirm this bug
because I copied the sample word file, pasted as RTF in a brand new ODT file,
and it opens perfectlyin OOo 2.2 in Windows XP.

Comment 12 michael.ruess 2007-08-01 13:43:24 UTC
Found it out now... happens ONLY when using Word 2000 as source. Select all the
text in Word 2000, copy to clipboard, paste as RTF in Writer, save as odt ->
"Error reading file" when reopening.
