Description vreid47362 2002-10-06 06:14:59 UTC
I cannot select all of the records in a database table and print them as
labels. Open Office only wants to print one page of labels. Is this an
error? Am I doing something wrong? If it is an error, is there a patch?

Thanks for your help.

"wreid47362",

please what exactly are you doing? Your description is somewhat ...
sparse. Can you please describe in more detail what the problem is?

Thanks
Frank

PS: re-assigning this to the QA team lead - this is most probably a
Writer issue (if any), because label generation is done in the Writer
(if I am correct), it only _uses_ the data access component.

I have a database of information about my volunteers that I use. The
>database is a MySQL database (although, I tried the same thing with
an
>Access database with the same results). I need to be able to create
a set
>of mailing labels for each volunteer in the database. I need 1
label per
>volunteer. When I click on the New, Labels feature in Open Office
the

>2. I add the next record command to the list of fields.
>3. I go to the database connection for the volunteer database and
select
>all the items in the appropriate table

creates one

I can reproduce this. When I have 100 labels or so I cant generate
more than one page at a time.

Hello all.

Summary:

Use the mail merge feature to create a print job or files that have
all the database/data source information populated into the label
document. As far as I know, OOo does not support the creation of a
single document with all the labels filled in with the data source
data, especially when using the "Data to Fields" command.

Details:

OOo does not work like MS Word where the creation of labels will
generate in the original document multiple pages of populated labels.

Users must use the mail merge feature to create labels for all the
records in the data source.

Workaround:

You could try printing to a file, or use the save to file feature in
the mail merge options.

Comments:

I'm closing this case, but I would encourage the users to create a new
feature request, detailing how label generation is intuitive for them.
