I have several .doc files. Each has one or two
images. In Microsoft Word images are displayed okay.

In OpenOffice
they are displayed as solid black areas.

MRU->SJ: see attached doc, the graphic there should have a white background with
text in it - but it is shown as whole black.

No. The images in attached document represent a yellow flower on a white
background. You can see it if you open the doc in Microsoft Word.

following release status meeting -> target 3.x

Checked with OpenOffice 3.0 beta. The issue still exist.
