Printing a document with a 22cm (width) x 11 cm (height) (not DL format which is
11x22) : the result is totally out of range:

1) Create a 22cm (width) x 11 cm (height) document, using page format. Specify
"PORTRAIT"

2) Print it : the text is huge, with an enormous offset on the left, and is cut
on the right.

Now if you set a height of 9.5 cm or lower, the result is ok
But above 9.6cm, the prints are wrong.

The problem appears on both my printer (Brother HL-2030) and PDF file ouput. So
it does not seem related to a driver problem.

Thanks.

Do you use original OOo or do you use a version which comes with your Linux system?

What Linux system do you use?

How is the printer bind into your Linux system?

Is the printer able to take paper with 220mm width? (My printer can only use max
216mm)

The screenshot looks as if the setting for the paper orientation in the printer
properties is wrong. Please have a look.

(For me the export to pdf gives exactly that, what is set in OOo. But my printer
cannot use 220mm width paper and therefore I must set the pape size in the
printer properties and turn the page 90° in the pdf-print dialog.)

Why do you try to use "Portrait" although the format is actually "Landscape"? Do
you tried it with the "Landscape" setting?

Ubuntu 7.10

I have a Brother HL-2030 printer connected by USB. I use latest drivers from
Brother, and I have never had any other problems with other applications.

The problem does not depend on the type of printer. I can reproduce the problem
with a PDF output as shown in the attachement. And it shows a strange difference
in behaviour between 9.5cm and 9.6 cm height.

Yes it handles a 22cm width no problem. I can also insert the envelope the other
way round (by the small side), but the laser printer tends to crumple them. So
the only way I can use the envelopes is by inserting them the other way, by the
22cm width (that's what I alway do with MS Word).

It's because I sent the PDF file output (easier than scanning a printed page
...). In fact it shows the result inserted in an A4 paper. That's why it my be
confusing. Just forget the a4 paper around and imagine that the real envelope is
around the text. I guess I could have drawn a box around the text to represent
the envelope.

Do not hesitate to ask form more details.
Thanks

It seems I can reproduce the same problem on windows XP also, with version 2.2.1.
If I use a PDF printer I have the same problem, see attachment :
  "print_bug_ooowriter 2.2.1 also on windows XP.zip"
File "1- height 9.5cm.pdf" is ok.
File "2- height 11cm.pdf" with a height of 11cm is not ok. It seems the
format has been turned 90 degrees without any advice.

But if I use the PDF export in the file menu (instead of printer), there doesn't
seem to be any problem.
