Even after switching to a bigger display (without resetting the remote desktop), I see that the recover window had drawn a window only big enough for the display size. There are no buttons hidden below. This means that even if I had figured out how to drag the relevant part of the window onto the display, I would still not have a button to click. Confirming with 2.4m241 on WinXP - recovery dialog is too tall for absolutely no reason, barely fitting into 640 pixels. As small screen devices are going to be very popular in coming years I set priority to P2. Stefan, please consider targeting this trivial issue for 3.0. Thanks a ton. The Office readme tells that a 1024x768 screen resolution is required. -> This issue is invalid. However, I had a look at an EEPC with an 800x400 Display. The file recovery dialog is a little cut at the bottom when the task bar is displayed so that the buttons are not readable at first. Easy Workaround: Shrink the Office display: - Tools-Options-OOo - View -> In the "User Interface" area, set the scaling to 80%, OK -> Now the users favorite dialog (file recovery) displays competely. Note: Those who uprefer smaller displays must live with limitations. While smaller and smaller devices get on the market (think of the growing computing power of mobile phones), at the same time bigger and bigger desktop screens with higher and higher resolutions come along cheaper and cheaper and spread as well. Closing issue. Then the minimum resolution screen needs to be rethought. Closing this bug because OOo documents its requirements are too high is missing the point. This is a valid issue and will cause OOo to be displaced from the desktop in time. Netbooks are selling very well and are expected to displace a large chunk of laptop sales. Perhaps supporting the eeepc 800x480 resolution is too hard to do but most newer netbooks still only have 1024x576 (or 1024x600) resolution. I have not seen any newer netbooks with the tiny 800x480 screen resolution myself. And actually currently with OOo 3.0.1 it appears it needs about 1080 pixels width to not hide some of the icons on the bars. Hiding the icons is ok in theory but exposes some other bugs with respect to the Font Color/Highlighting/etc buttons. I don't recall their bug numbers at the moment. "With netbooks a lot of the desktops have trouble going to smaller screens. All of sudden you can't press the okay button because its outside the screen. As screens go as small as phones, Google's Android could be a contender for netbooks so you may see Android growing up instead of desktops growing down". Linus Torvalds http://www.techworld.com.au/article/273956/open_source_identity_linux_founder_l inus_torvalds?pp=3 Besides, there is really no reason for this dialog to be that tall and wide. Adjusting summary. SBA->FL: This "big screen" vs. "small screen" thing fits into the User Experience renaissace project efforts, I believe. Please proceed. Reassigned to FL. I need help with this problem! What does your last comment mean? How do I find out what to do next? I would really like to use Open Office, but I can't until I get this problem taken care of! |
