There is no status bar in calc documents. The menu command toggles the
visibility of the area which displays the tabs of a calc document and the
horizontal scrollbar, but status bar is always invisible.
X11 version (2.3.1) works well on this.

Seems to be fixed in m242 : I can toggle the status bar using View menu entry.

Opening a new calc sheet, statusbar is shown. But opening an exisitng one, it is
not. You have to change window size (by draging around right lower corner of the
window), then stats bar shows up again.

Can you remove your preferences, or test another Calc sheet, or attach the file you opened, and who 
caused the trouble to the issue ?
