Description Badral 2008-04-23 21:33:46 UTC
Please support Mongolian Classical/traditional to build system.
MS LCID Hex=0850, MS LCID Dec=2128. ISO code is same. mn
Which OOo code should we use for it?
Comment 1 ingo.schmidt-rosbiegal 2008-04-24 15:06:25 UTC
is -> badaa: Shall it be something like

mn-TR 0 2128 # Mongolian Classical/traditional

in msi-encodinglist.txt?
Comment 2 ingo.schmidt-rosbiegal 2008-05-27 15:45:08 UTC
Setting target 3.x
Comment 3 Badral 2008-11-25 00:58:10 UTC
Ok. There is nothing to be said against it.
Comment 4 Mathias_Bauer 2008-11-27 14:01:39 UTC
Sorry, but this won't work. "mn-TR" is not a valid ISO locale, so we can't do it.
MS Language IDs allow to differentiate the two Mongolian layouts, but for our
build locales we use the ISO codes.

cc'ing Eike who is our expert for locale stuff.
Comment 5 ooo 2008-11-27 15:37:23 UTC
Well, mn-TR is a valid ISO locale, but it would mean Mongolian in Turkey ;-)

For the script types not yet supported see the comment I just added to
http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=91226#desc20
Comment 6 ooo 2008-12-01 11:24:10 UTC
Grabbing issue, making it an i18n issue, setting it as blocker to issue 91226.

Effectively, the support for script types (or any workaround) will be the basis
to get that issue solved.
Comment 7 ooo 2008-12-01 11:36:03 UTC
This issue is mainly about the ISO code mapping, but also having a new language
list box entry, where currently is only "Mongolian":

Mongolian Cyrillic
Mongolian Mongolian
Comment 8 huqitu 2011-01-18 08:31:01 UTC
may be we need to add "mn-TR"(traditional mongolian), "mn-MN"(khalha mongolian)
and "mn-TD"(tod mongolian), "mn-BR"(buriyad mongolian),"mn-KL"(khalmek mongolian)
etc. in iso to support every mongolian script!
Comment 9 Badral 2011-01-20 09:39:06 UTC
Yes!
I think, it is the best solution, which means most complete and easiest way for
mongolian language groups.
Also as mentioned by huqitu:
mn-MN (khalha mongolian, officially used cyrillic letters)
mn-TR (tradional/vertical mongolian) mn-TD may be same (tod mongolian used by
western mongolians, also vertical) Mongolian traditional, todo, manju are
implemented in Unicode in same block. (1800-18AF)
mn-BR (buriyad mongolian/north cyrillic and some more extra letters)
mn-KL (khalmek mongolian, also cyrillic and some extra)
I think it's arguably possible because all the scripts are minor.
@mba: If so, would be solved our chronicle issue
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=91226 ? If we have separate
locales, we don't need to mix all scripts in same document.
Comment 10 ooo 2011-01-20 12:23:17 UTC
Again, the suggested mn-* codes are not valid ISO descriptions for different
scripts. We need to implement BCP47 RFC5646 language tags to properly solve
this. Added dependency on issue 109846.

Reassigning to spare time account.
