That's not true. As in MS Word these are objects created by the drawing tools. They are not regarded for Word count in both applications. MRU->SBA: please have a look here, Writer counts 63 words in this document, MS Word counts 51. In MS Word you can edit the text boxes simply by clicking on them, but in OOo you can't simply place your cursor into the text box to edit it. I see now, when I right click to edit the text box, that I get the error message: Object not accessible The object cannot be accessed due to insufficient user rights. So... in addition to the word count issue, perhaps there is a second bug here regarding user rights. You can edit the text box in MS Word, but not in OOo. Is this the desired behavior? SBA->foobard: I believe that you are aware of "collective issues". This shall not get one :-) I looked in OOo 3.0 dev build OOO300_m3. I can not reproduce the "edit problem". What you describe sounds like the entire document is read-only (maybe opened in MS Office and OOo from the same machine ). If you see "another" issue, please do not discuss that in here. Back to word count... The difference of 12 (63 - 51) words comes from the page footer. OOO Writer counts it and Word does not. Changing summary accordingly. Try this: Within the bugdoc, delete all but one word from the text body. Then select the text in the footer. MS Word (2007 and 2003 alike) tells: 12 word in selction, 1 word in document. Smells buggy but... SBA->FME: Since word count references to (yet :-) market leading products are more important than being bug-free ourselves, it looks like we must copy this behavior of ignoring page footers in word count. Personal Note: Lets see how long we can survive this "following blindly" without introducing UI for "meaningful personal settings concerning word count" :-) *** Issue 102169 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. *** |
