Description zirneklitis 2008-05-14 10:21:29 UTC
Activation drawing mode during slide show
(Slideshow/SlideshowSettings/Options/Mouse Pointer as Pen) activates pen with
predefined size and colour. Nice feature would be possibility to change
appearance of the pen. The default values is hard to been seen on different
bacgrounds.

Reassigned.
Comment 2 gleppert 2008-10-18 18:29:12 UTC
Especially, a hightlighting feature would be great.

It would be perfect, if the user could choose
-size
-colour
-transparency
of the pen.

I am successfully able to replicate it on windows XP

System Configuration:

HP Pavilion
Microsoft Windows XP Home edition version 2002 Service pack 2
Intel(R) Celeron(R)M 1.60 GHZ 504 MB RAM
Open Office version: OOo-dev 3.2x (codeline DEV300)

Steps to replicate

1.Open the presentation
2.In ‘Slide Show’menu option select the ‘Slide Show Settings..’ option
3.In the ‘Options’ area of the Slide Show dialog, check the ‘Mouse pointer as
pen’ option
4.Start presentation
5.Try to draw something

It was easy to observe that there exhists no option to change the pen color in
steps 3 or 4 or eraser in step 4.

There are three items that would improve the presentation pen feature in
Impress.
1.Pen color is green by default and cannot be changed. On certain backgrounds,
it is difficult to see the green drawn line, such as a black background.
2.There does not exist the option to erase a drawn line in some cases when you
want to erase the draw line then the user has to start over in that case and
time will be wasted and user satisfaction is affected.
3.There does not exist the option to draw a highlight on a slide in presentation
mode.

The above three items are exhibited behaviors of the ‘presentation pen’ in the
Microsoft PowerPoint product. These would be value-added options that users of
Impress, who have familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, would find beneficial,
considering the fact that Open Office Impress is competing in the marketplace
with Microsoft PowerPoint.

This feature is not implemented yet (OOo 3.2.0), but very useful, because the
current colour green and line width is not properly show on many displays.

By the way, Go-oo has got "a configurable 'scribble mode' in the slideshow", see
http://download.go-oo.org/tstnvl/3.1.1/README.htm .
I just tested it: Line thickness and color can be changed via context menu
during the presentation.
