@clu: The concept of switching input method or languages could be unfamiliar to
western users, but is very essential to Chinese (and probably other Asian) users
who input non-ASCII characters via a standard keyboard. In Windows users can
organize their input methods and languages in "language bar", and here is a link
on MS website that may be helpful:

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/cc452fac-0858-4baf-bc01-005ef3c901751033.mspx

The links to "Add an input language" and "Change your input language" on that
page may be helpful, too.

The pictures on that page used Windows Vista as example, but I can recall
Windows 2000 already have this feature, I uploaded several pictures on Windows
XP for better illustration.

By the way whether this problem exists on Windows 2000 and Vista as well are yet
to be verified.

thx.
Comment 6 zhangxiaofei.ooo 2008-08-12 03:55:13 UTC
@clu: From what I have experimented on several machines the specific way to
switch, whether via keyboard shortcut or context menu, or if extra actions are
performed during the procedure does not seem to matter. Neither does the version
of OOo count. The deadlock is always reproduceable. Would you please re-verify
it on a Windows, with email account configured, and address book created in a
thunderbird or Outlook Express?

Thanks.
