Description cscharabaruk 2008-07-31 09:24:32 UTC
Dockable windows, such as the Navigator or Styles & Formatting, should not
retain their docking and visibility state between applications. As an example, I
keep the Styles & Formatting window docked on the right-hand of Writer. However,
if I go to create a presentation, Styles & Formatting very unhelpfully appears
in Impress, docked between the window edge and the Tasks docked window.
Similarly it appears in both Calc and Draw. Closing/hiding the window in any of
those applications causes it to be closed/hidden in the next Writer window that
is opened. The behaviour of Navigator is the same.

Rather than have these (and other) dockable windows share their docking and
visibility states between applications, these states should be tracked by each
individual application to avoid UI clutter and user stress.

Reproducible with server installation of "AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / English locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1554003 - 2014-01-06]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", own separate user profile:

1. From AOO Start Center Launch blan new Writer document
2. If necessary make Navigator visible by clicking Navigator icon
   in Standard Toolbar
3. If necessary dock Navigator left from page View
4. Open new Presentation with menu 'File -> New -> Presentation'
   > Will be opened with Navigator docked left from Slide area
5. Undock Navigator (Drag and Drop somewhere into the slide area)
6. Menu 'Windows -> Untitled Writer Document'
   > Still has Navigator docked
7. Close Writer document
8. Open new Writer document with menu 'File -> New -> Text Document'
Expected: Navigator docked as per step 3
Actual: Floating Navigator window as per Step 5

Additional Info:
(a) It should be possible to have different preferences in different
    applications.
(b) That never worked with OOo, I already see current behavior in OOo 1.1.5
(c) Already reproducible with Pre-3.4.0 (OOo 1.1.5), but because of crippled
Version selector (Bug 123063) no useful info can be contributed

This one is a DUP of "Bug 88039 - Docking and apprearance of floating windows is not application bound"
