Description mkb 2002-11-25 15:32:54 UTC
The Paste special feature lacks the paste as Value option.
For example, If I Vlookup sowething from another sheet, in which some reference
values dont exist & thus end up being #N/A !, i would like to do a copy & paste
special as value & then do a search / replace of #N/A with a blank ... thus
giving me clean data to work with.
Currently, i can paste special numbers / text / formulas etc etc ... none of
which (or combinations thereof serve the purpose of paste special as value)

Would love to see OpenOffice.Org spreadsheet app with this feature

Add the option "value" to the "Paste Special" selection menu.

It work fine if you Paste Special, uncheck Paste All, uncheck Formulas.

With Microsoft Excel I heavily using the "paste value only" selector of the dialog.

I tried to do the same with Open Office.

However, I spend to much time by reading each check box status.

Currently, it is one of the stopper which prevents me from switching from
Microsoft Excel to OpenOffice.

I would appreciate:
- either a dedicated menu item like "paste only values" beside the "paste" and
"paste special..." items
- or a button group (exclusive selection) like Excel does

I'm using jeffraun's workaround now, thanks. Thankfully it remembers the
checkbox setting. When I use this, I use it hundreds of times in a row.

Making it more obvious would be very helpful.

I also use this feature to "force" data into a particular column type. Often
I'll get a spreadsheet with a mix of dates (stored as fractions) and text that
just looks like a date.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
