Description alefragnani 2008-11-18 02:06:02 UTC
Hi,

I recently updated to version 3 of OpenOffice in Mac OS X, and noted that if the filename has accented
characters, like 'Cálculo.odt', the file is not opened, raising an error: /Users/myprofile/docs/Cálculo.odt
does not exist. I previously had version 2.4 (I guess), and don't remember this problem happening. I found
another issues reported, but all are closed, and the issue 59251 says to be ok in Windows, but nothing
about Mac OS X,

I CAN open a file with exactly the same name or any other name with accented or umlaut or even chinese
characters with both the native and the OOo dialog. Are you using any special configuration? What version
of Mac OS X are you using?
Comment 2 alefragnani 2008-11-18 10:58:24 UTC
No special configuration. I use Mac OS X 10.5.2 (base install from my MacBook
13''. I can't upgrade it to 10.5.5 since there are 'external display issues' in
this upgrade. The OS language is english, but I live in Brazil. In fact, the
name of my file was 'Cálculo H E.xls', but even saving it as 'Cálculo H E.odt',
or renaming it to 'Cálculo.odt' raised the same problem. Are you using the same
version? Sorry, but I don't have the build number in hands (I'm at work right
now, and the problem occurs in my home computer). I just remember that I
downloaded the first full version 3 released, about a week after its launch
because of your servers being in high load. I previolsy had version 3 beta
installed, and before it, version 2.4 I guess, and this problem didn't happen.

The correct information about OpenOffice version.

It is version 3.0.0
OOO300m9 (Build: 9358)

It was downloaded in Oct, 20, 2008

That's the official version that works ok for me. Can you open the file using the OOo-dialog (you can
switch between native and OOo dialogs using the settings in Preferences (or Extras > Options) >
OpenOffice.org > Common)?

This issue is probably a dupe of #i95688#

Florian, what do you think ?
Comment 6 alefragnani 2008-11-20 21:38:55 UTC
I didn't find the OOo-dialog settings, but using File / Open menu item, the problem also happens. I think
it can about the same issue noted by ericb
Comment 7 florian 2008-11-20 22:34:17 UTC
I don't think 95688 is related. While I can verify 95688 I still cannot reproduce this issue here (using the
same document for both issues, containing spaces and non-ASCII characters).
