Description subv3rsiv3 2002-12-05 17:09:30 UTC
Create a document in the spreadsheet program. Make the available data large
enough to fit on two sheets of paper (or more). Define a print area; notice
that the print area works fine in print preview. Now, save the document in
Excel format. Open in Excel 97; do a print preview. The print range is not set
anymore.

Cannot reproduce.
What I have done in OOo1.0.1 and OOo643:
- Inserted 200 rows/10 columns of data
- Defined print range A1:J100 (only 100 lines -> 2x2 pages)
- Exported to Excel
- In Excel: Page preview, shows only 100 lines

Please try it again. If it still does not work, please reopen and
attach the original Calc document and the exported Excel document.

Oops! The original document is in Excel format. I didn't describe it
correctly. My fault.

Create the document in Excel, with multiple "pages" (tabs). Create
data on each page. Set a print range on one page, then another. Save
the spreadsheet from Excel in it's native Excel format. Open the
sheet from OpenOffice. Examine the print range and print preview
(it's most likely off or non-existant). Reset the print range inside
of OpenOffice. Save the document without changing the type (as Excel,
not OpenOffice). Open the document back up in Excel. There's a 50%
chance you'll see "name already defined, please give a new name" for
"Print_Range". Then switch into print preview. The print range is
different (again).

The issue we see is common and has been reported multiple times by
multiple users. We currently have 20 installations of OpenOffice out
of our userbase of 60. I'll get with a user and see if I can get some
data to send.

Ahhh, the name conflict thing... :-)

This is fixed in the upcoming OOo1.0.2 and in OOo643c which is already
available.

The error only occurs if the two sheets with print ranges are NOT in
alphabetic order.
Example: SheetA, then SheetB works. SheetB, then SheetA fails.

If you try it with an OOo643, please let us know whether it works.
