Description hanssietsma 2009-02-04 02:22:06 UTC
I made an addressbook by connecting to Thunderbird addressbook. Reading the
addressbook and inserting fields and records in Writer works fine. Merging with
a template containing addressbook-fields too. Making a merge-letter too, and
making the difference between salutations for women and men works fine, except....

When I use one of the <custom fields> in the salutation the system crashes. I
tried to build a conditional text by hand, with the same result. A conditional
text that uses other fields works fine.

It might have to do with translation, for the name of these customfields in
Dutch is: "Gebruikerdef. #", # being a number from 1-4. This contains a dot,
which is used for seperating the names of adressbook, table and field also. I
could not find a way of finding out if my my assumption is right though. If
there is a way of changing these Dutch names by hacking a file somewhere I am
willing to try.

I am not sure if I should or can do anything to encourage you guys to change the
Assigned-field from 'writerneedsconfirm' to somthing else. Can't find anything
about this in the multiple help-pages and I did what was asked for: uploading
sample documents.

Hope this one helps ;))

Did some testing with the custom field (Dutch version) from Thunderbird-address
book in the Base module also. Most works OK, but sorting generates an error. If
you need more info, just mail me please.

Could you please attach the Adressen.odb file to this issue, so that we can see
what's happening when merging the contents. If you don't want to share this file
here, you can send it directly to mru@openoffice.org. We here at SUN will of
course handle it confidentially. Thanks for supporting us!

Thanks for your response. I just send you an email with the addresses database.
Hope it helps. If you need the Thunderbird-addressbook also just let me know.

BTW: I still do not know wether the assignedfield above ("writerneedsconfirm
(writerneedsconfirm)" ) means that you want me to do something.

I was now able to see this also with a German OOo. There, the Thunderbird
Address Book uses similar field names "benutzerdef. 1". This also leads to crash
in OOo 3.0. But it looks fixed in OOo 3.1 dev build OOO310m4 and m5. Could you
please verify on your system?

Closed. Works in OOo 3.1.
