Description andreaippo 2009-02-07 15:53:20 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

Define a new autoformat style: I did it by choosing a colour for the header row
(well, for A1:D1), one for the odd rows (A2:D2 and A4:D4) and another one for
the even ones (A3:D3).
Then I selected this 4x4 cells rectangle and added a new AutoFormat style
(Format->AutoFormat->Add... - I have the italian version so not sure about the
words).
Now I select the entire sheet and try to apply the autoformat style I've just
created -> OOo stops responding and uses a lot of CPU (also writer and the other
programs of the suite don't respond any more).

Trying to apply a predefined AutoFormat style to the entire sheet takes instead
about 1 or 2 seconds on my dual core pc.

I confirm it for OOoDEVm41 on WinXP. It depends not on whether it is a
predefined or a custom autoformat. It seems that it depends on whether you have
alternating rows.
Apply the predefined autoformat "Yellow" to an marked range in a new
spreadsheet. I have stopped these times:
     A1:Z12000 17seconds
     A1:Z16000 30seconds
     A1:Z20000 47seconds
     A1:Z24000 60seconds
I tried a whole sheet too, but I did not wait whether OOo will finish eventually.

Add keyword performance. Excel2007 applies the format style immediately to
A1:z24000.
