Reassigned. (Matthew McCollum 9/2/2009) Current configuration: OOo-dev 3.2.0 DEV300m56 (Build: 9419) Windows XP Professional SP3 Intel Pentium 4CPU 2.4GHz with 2.0GB of RAM Steps taken to demonstrate the existence last line alignment option within Writer: 1. Launched Open Office Writer. 2. Created three separate paragraphs, each having roughly three lines in depth on the page. 3. Pressed the key combination Ctrl A to select the entire text on the page. 4. Pressed the 'Bullets On/Off' button located in the toolbar at the top of the screen. 5. With all of the text in the page bulletted with selection remaining, right clicked within the selected text and chose the 'Paragraph..' option. 6. In the opened Paragraph dialog, selected the 'Alignment' tab. 7. In the options listed on the Alignment tab, selected the 'Justified' radio button and specified the 'Last line' alignment to be 'Centered' by selecting the 'Centered' option from the combo box accompanying the 'Last line' alignment option. 8. This created a bulletted list of three paragraphs with the last line of each paragraph being center justified. Steps taken to illustrate the absence of the last line alignment option with Impress: 9. Launched Open Office Impress. 10. In the Presentation wizard, selected the 'Empty Presentation' Type radio button and pressed the 'Create' button. 11. Selected the 'Title Slide' layout from the 'Layouts' selection pane located on the right-hand side of the Impress window. 12. Clicked on the area of the slide marked 'Click to add text' and created three separate paragraphs, each having roughly three lines in depth in the slide. 13. Pressed the key combination Ctrl A to select the entire text in the slide. 14. Pressed the 'Bullets On/Off' button located in the toolbar at the top of the screen. 15. With all of the text on the slide bulletted with selection remaining, right clicked within the selected text and chose the 'Paragraph..' option. 16. In the opened Paragraph dialog, selected the 'Alignment' tab. 17. In the options listed on the Alignment tab, selected the 'Justified' radio button and observed the absence of the 'Last line' alignment option. The steps taken to illustrate the absence of the last line alignment option within Impress had much of the same look and feel as those taken to demonstrate the existence of the last line alignment option within Writer. Other options such as 'Font Name' and 'Font Size' selection as well as other text oriented options share a similar look and feel between Writer and Impress. This naturally leads the user to expect that both Impress and Writer should share the same paragraph alignment options. For this reason, the 'Last line' paragraph alignment option would be a value-added addition to Impress for those users with familiarity using Writer. |
