Description lestat79_be 2009-02-25 17:36:36 UTC
I noticed that although everything was nicely translated in my native language
(I'm Beligian Dutch speaking), all the special keys like Shift, Arrow Up, etc
where translated in French, which is in my region a other official language, but
not the one I'm using. So I thought, a small translation problem, I'll use the
english version (which I prefer anyway as i'm used working in english programs),
but to my surprise everything was in english now except these special keys
(which were still in french...)
After some testing I found out that this had to do with the keyboard
configuration. I'm on Windows Vista, selecting Belgian Dutch keyboard layout.
When I change the layout to Netherland Dutch, the keys are correctly translated
in dutch in OpenOffice, but offcourse the keyboard layout is all messed up as in
belgium we use azerty and in the netherlands they use querty.
I understand that these translations for keys are linked to the keyboard and
your chosen keyboard layout, but I don't understand why this means they are
displayed in French. In belgium, there are three official languages: Dutch,
French and German, but in my keyboard layout, it states "Beglian Dutch" which
should inform OpenOffice it should display these keys in dutch, not french. More
so, If I prefer the work in OpenOfice in English, everything should be in
English. Showing different languages in one application is just confusing.
