Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 100836
Remove writer2latex extension from ooo3.1 installation set
Last modified: 2009-04-28 13:40:57 UTC
... caused by problems described in task i100744.
To be fixed in cws native241
this is only a half-baked solution. if we do that, we should also remove it completely from the code. See my comment in i100744
is: oh, and what are you going to do with all the people expecting writer2latex being there because it was there since 2.0.4 in OOo? (Not that I mind it gone, as it always was a external project just imported into OOos code)
is -> rene: The writer2latex extension is the problem, and therefore I remove this new extension. It has never been included into OOo before as bundled extension. Therefore nobody will miss it. I suppose, that if the problem with the extension is fixed, it can be added to the installation set in OOo 3.2. But now we cannot release a broken extension for OOo 3.1.
There's a slight misunderstanding here: Issue 100744 referred to installation of Writer2LaTeX 1.0 beta. This problem does not affect the integrated version, which is Writer2LaTeX 0.5.0.2.
Sorry, didn't see the comments to Issue 100744 before writing this.

Correct, it never was there yet ad *bundled extension*, but it's there since 2.0.4(!) as jar in the installset. The change in 3.1 was just to make it what it is upstream - a extension. So people *will* miss it because it was there from 2.0.4 beginning to 3.0.x *in the installset*
Verified in CWS native241.
Attaching to stopper meta issue 95768.
Are you seriously suggesting to remove Writer2LaTeX from OOo 3.1? Many users and publishers rely on Writer2LaTeX by now since it's been there since OOo 2. So if there are issues with w2l 1.0 beta (!) it would be wise to keep w2l 0.4/0.5 in the installation set for OOo 3.1. Removing w2l altogether is not acceptable.
Closing issue.
As I am not yet used to the terminology of the issue tracker: Does this mean that w2l has been fixed and remains part of OOo 3.1? Thanks in advance.
No, that is not the fix. Using this task in cws native241correct the w2l extension was removed from OOo 3.1. Starting with ooo310 m10 the extension is no longer included in OOo.
Thanks for explaining. Rather sad news to me, but I understand that w2l will remain available as an extension, thanks to Henrik.
