Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 100859
No migration of user-defined shortcut keys from OOo 3.0.1 to 3.1.0 RC1
Last modified: 2016-10-18 00:40:51 UTC
After an upgrade, there's no migration of custom keyboard shortcuts from <current.xml> [path: ...\user\config\soffice.cfg\...] of OOo 3.0.1 to <Accelerators.xcu> [path: ...\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\...] of OOo 3.1.0 RC1. These shortcut keys must be assigned again in Tools > Customize > Keyboard; then <Accelerators.xcu> [s. path above] will be created. The several <current.xml> with the custom keyboard shortcuts are still in the path above, but they don't work.
CCing regina, please confirm as read on http://de.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=84666
I can confirm it for Migration from German OOo3.0.1 (=300m15 build 9379) to German OOo3.1RC1 (=310m9 build 9396). I have made a copy of the user folder before and after the installation of OOo3.1RC1 and can attach it here, if it will help you.
The problem that prevented the migration is that the "current.xml" does not contain the user defined shortcuts, it contains a merged set of *all* key bindings. The estimated effort for the migration isn't low. Considering that after 3.1 users will have bitten the bullet anyway I would like to set this to "wontfix".
Given that the "estimated effort for the migration isn't low", it is no problem for me (myself) to allocate my custom keyboard shortcuts in OOo 3.1.0 again. (So I've done - time and effort has not been exorbitantly ;) ...) I hope other users will share this view. Even if it is not pleasing to them and may be unsettling at first, that the custom keyboard shortcut are vanished after the change to version 3.1.0. So I would agree about "wontfix" on second thought.
Thank you for the reconsideration. I think we shouldn't have done that in the first place (so this indeed was a mistake), but after the release of 3.1 users will have reentered their shortcuts anyway.
