Description marcoagpinto 2009-04-29 19:59:37 UTC
Hello!!!

I have both Microsoft Office XP and Open Office 3.0.1 .

It seems that the Writer doesn't keep the top, bottom, left and right size (Word
XP) while importing Word XP documents leading to bad text formating.

Kind regards,

"top, bottom, left and right size" of what?
Please attach a sample document.

Hello!!!

I created a Word XP .DOC file with the following page properties:
Paper Size: Letter (8.5 x 11 in.)
           Width: 21,59 cm
          Height: 27,94 cm
Orientation: Portrait
Margins:
   Top: 2,54 cm
Bottom: 2,54 cm
  Left: 3,17 cm
 Right: 3,17 cm

When I open it with sWriter 3.0.1 the text no longer fits in the pages because
left and right are both changed to 3,18 cm instead of 3,17 cm.

I hope this detailed information can help fixing the bug.

Kind regards,
       >Marco A.G.Pinto

This seems to be some more general problem, I often see that OOo does not handle
measures (margins, posiitons, ...) with high precision. In this special case I
see 0,1mm as a small problem ;-)

Open import issue!

@marcoagpinto:
All these 100000 issues are concerning "problems", please contribute meaningful
summaries!
Still waiting for a sample document!

I cannot reproduce the problem. I created an MS Word doc having the mentioned
page attributes. But the page margins were imported as expected with 3.17cm.
Please attach your sample document her so that we are able to reproduce and fix
the issue.
Thanks for supporting us!

I have attached the .DOC file where the issue happens.

Please don't mind about the "Last saved by Abdul Mustafa" since many years ago I
would install things with that name as a joke and now I can't change it unless I
reinstall stuff.

:-)

I hope this attachment will help fixing the bug.

Kind regards to all,

I reproduce the problem with the bug-doc on OOo 3.1 RC2 FR.
If I use mm as measurement unit, I can see that OOo use a margin of 31,75 mm. If
the unit is inch, the margin is 1,25". Rounding problem ?

Regards
JBF

Thanks for sending the document.

MRU->HBRINKM: see attached document, here the left/right margin is imported with
3.18 cm instead of 3.17.
