Description gorlash 2009-05-07 20:15:08 UTC
I have a document with some protected fields. I select
Tools:Protect Document:Sheet to protect the fields, and enter my password twice.
 This works fine, and I cannot edit fields.

If I then go back (*without closing the document*) to Tools:Protect
Document:Sheet to re-enable the fields, it asks me for the password, as it should.

However, if I protect the fields, then *close* Calc, reopen it, reload my file,
and do the same thing, Calc just turns off the protection without asking for the
password!  This is not correct.

I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO310m11
(Build 9399)]" and can NOT confirm the reported effect.
WFM or DUP of Issue 60305? Unfortunately the report is too rare to decide this.

@gorlash
May be you can tell us the OS you used for your test?
Pls. attach a sample document!

I am using Vista SP1

The attached spreadsheet demonstrates the issue. I protected the document using
password "gorlash". The first column is protected, the second column is not.
When I first open the file, the protected column *is* protected. However, when
I select Tools:ProtectDocument:Sheet, it just silently unprotects the document
without asking for a password.

DUP as expected

@gorlash:
Please read our guidelines on
<http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/pre_submission.html> and
<http://www.openoffice.org/bugs/bug_writing_guidelines.html>, then
contribute a clear step by step instruction containing all observations (error
messages ...), _every_key_press_and_every_mouse_click_ how to reproduce the
problem, and explain why you believe that your results are unexpected.
and be more exact with your next report!

Thank you for your attention.
