I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate, but didn't see anyone specifically
reporting 'carets' as the replacement character for bullets.

I have been using OpenOffice 3 Writer for a while and have seen the same issue
in various versions and pre-release versions.

I save files in .doc format as I often share with Windows users.
If I create a document with a bullet list it displays OK.
If I save (as .doc) and then reopen, the bullet character is replaced by the
caret symbol.
As far as I can tell the windows users see the bullet list normally.

It would be cool if bullet lists displayed as bullets.
