Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 102767
File is locked when Openoffice fails to open
Last modified: 2015-06-16 15:51:21 UTC
I have a spreadsheet on an exported drive. This is on a machine called 'nick'. While logged onto 'kitchen' I tried to open an existing file but forgot that my DISPLAY variable was not set. i.e. dougie@kitchen:~$ ps -ef | grep openoffice dougie 15849 3072 0 21:16 pts/3 00:00:00 grep openoffice dougie@kitchen:~$ openoffice.org /nickoffice/recipe.ods Failed to open display dougie@kitchen:~$ ps -ef | grep openoffice dougie 15867 1 17 21:16 pts/3 00:00:00 /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin /nickoffice/recipe.ods -splash-pipe=5 dougie 15872 3072 0 21:16 pts/3 00:00:00 grep openoffice dougie@kitchen:~$ Even though the file could not be opened because the DISPLAY variable was not set, a lock was obtained on the file. When I tried to open the file from another machine I was informed that it was locked.
I think the lockfile is .~lock.recipe.ods dougie@kitchen:/nickoffice$ cat .~lock.recipe.ods# ,dougie,kitchen,14.06.2009 20:58,file:///home/dougie/.openoffice.org/3;dougie@kitchen:/nickoffice$
(In reply to djnisbet from comment #1) > I think the lockfile is .~lock.recipe.ods > > dougie@kitchen:/nickoffice$ cat .~lock.recipe.ods# > ,dougie,kitchen,14.06.2009 > 20:58,file:///home/dougie/.openoffice.org/3;dougie@kitchen:/nickoffice$ I have the same problem. I attempted to open a spreadsheet file yesterday, and today there is a new file name .~lock.filename.ods# I have attempted to update Open Office and tried opening again, but it just hangs. I even left it run for over an hour yesterday, and still it won't open. It doesn't even give me the message that the file is locked. It just doesn't respond. The program doesn't even open.
Sorry, I forgot to mention, the original file name is still there...it added the locked file name! When I look at the properties for the original file, it hasn't been updated since May, the properties on the locked file are from yesterday and today, so I renamed one of them thinking it would help, and I deleted the other...nothing
