Description terence_j_coffey 2009-06-14 22:42:32 UTC
Create, name and save a Writer Document to disk. Paste mpeg files into the
named open writer document. When this file is large(containing approx. 150 pages,
keep pasting in new pages until auto save kicks in, then add a few more pages
and save the document. Take note of the number of pages as reported on the left
hand side of the bottom panel in Writer. close the document and then reopen it.

The behavior I've observed is the Page number when initially opened reports the
correct/expected number of pages. This number is then updated towards the end of
the initialisation step. It appears that pages have been dropped from the document.

the build I have is Build9398 000310M11

"Paste mpeg files into the named open writer document"
???? How and why do you do this???

Please attach a sample document.

What you describe is probably the difference between the real page number and
the page number before reformatting -> no bug

(Pasting here long description from attachment summary line)
-----------------
The issue shown in this document is not exactly the same as described earlier
but it probably demonstrates the same problem.

The behavior I'm seeing when i open this attached document is as follows The
bottom left hand side shows 253 pages. after a few seconds of opening the
documents the upper page count increases to 288.

The behavior i reported earlier was this issue in reverse, A higher value
displayed initially and after a few seconds a smaller value appears.

""Paste mpeg files into the named open writer document" ???? How and why do you
do this???"
Ans. When you scan a document using a scanner you can specify the file output
format.in this case the scan files are store in a particular directory in mpeg
format.
-----------------

Ok! you don't mean "mpeg" (video) but "jpeg" (image)...

What you describe describe is a normal behavior.
A word processor updates the layout of the document which leads, In long
documents, to a visible re-count of the page number.

You can accelerate this process by doing "Tools - Update - Page Formatting".
