Continuation of the docx export work from issue 96319.
Comment 1 niels.maschmeyer 2021-07-07 01:37:33 UTC
Are there any future plans ot offer docx exports for OpenOffice?
Our customers demand it now, LibreOffice has the docx export already.
Otherwise we need to switch to LibreOffice
Comment 2 Peter 2021-07-07 06:12:47 UTC
yes we have plans on improving the docx export filter. Work has started but nothing we can release at this point.

Basically our main Idea is to use work that has already done. Currently main favorite is to use Apache POI.
Timeline when we are done is unclear. As usual at pro bono work, which means we work on OpenOffice when the volunteers have time. If we could organize a development payed sprint, then we could target this with more precision.

Are you willing to help organizing a payed dev sprint?

Thanks Peter for the update!
I am looking forward for updates.

If I had enough money I would support it.
But I am employed and need to present the most cost efficient path for my company... (Especially in our times...)
We use OpenOffice just for generating odt files and converting them to word doc or pdf files.

But anyway, keep up the good work ;-)
