Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 103154
Maltese language requires hyphen and apostrophe to be checked too
Last modified: 2013-02-24 20:43:20 UTC
The Maltese language uses the hyphen and apostrophe both as word-break characters and also as an integral part of the preceding word. For example, "fil-bidu" is two words, "fil-" and "bidu". Similarly, "f'moħħi" consists of "f'" and "moħħi". At present, OOo strips away the apostrophe or hyphen, marks the word as incorrect then suggests the same word again (ie, with hyphen or apostrophe) as a correct spelling. Note that the command-line version of hunspell treats these characters correctly.

Thanx. I'd appreciate if a note is added when this fix appears in a build so I can test it before release.
OOo 3.2 is in stopper mode and only critical bug fixes are still allowed to be integrated. I change the target of this issue to OOo 3.3. Perhaps a fix can be found for this release. If this issue is a stopper, please promote it as stopper for OOo 3.2 at the releases mailing list on OOo. Thx
OOo 3.3 is nearly final. I change the target of this issue to OOo 3.x. Please find a solution and set a correct target, if you know when a fix can be integrated.
