Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 103492
Editing background of white text only appears after first typing
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:47:52 UTC
At first: I actually use 000310m11, but I couldn't find it in the list. It's a bit hard to explain, so here's the a way to reporduce it: - Draw a new small rectangle with colored fill. - Then click in the rect to start text editing and choose font color white - Start to type whatever you like as long as the text's width exeeds the rectangles bounds. - Deselect it. Now you can only see the text within the rect (which is OK, for sure) - Now click again in the rectangle to edit the text (I activated auto text edit in the options menu) - You will see, that you still can't see the text outside the box - Now type at least one character - You will see, now the whole text gets the background color of the rect and you can read everything. Despite the fact that this is a defect, you might say why should anybody use white text that exceeds its containing shape. But I found this issue most of the time when editing white text in a colored rectangle that was rotated by 90°. Because when you edit this text, it automatically rotates the text back to horizontal orientation. If you do so, you will have the same problem that you can't see the text until you start typing which is quite annoying.
