Open a presentation which has a custom designed handout, for example 1 column, 4
rows with slides on the left and a 4 rectangles with line hatching on the right
in landscape.
File > Print.
On tab 'General' section 'Print' select 'Handouts' in drop-down list 'Document'.
Open drop-down list 'Slides per page'.
There are only items 1,2,3,4,6,9. The item 'default' is missing.

The setting 'default' is meant to print the handout in exact that layout, which
the user has created on the 'Handout' tab in Impress. I'll attach such a
presentation (missing pictures are in the zip-file of issue104516).

The item 'default' is needed to fix issue 94055.

@Regina: CL informed me in a mail to some I-Team members (2009-08-25) that this
feature will be earliest available in OOo 3.3 (or even later).

I noticed that there already is an older issue also including votes (thanks
cornouws), so I close this one as duplicate and fix it using issue 94055
