Description therealorion 2009-09-11 05:25:32 UTC
When I save an .odp file with the name "Eng.103.Week.#1.odp," Impress
automatically truncates the file name to "Eng.101.Week.pdf." But it does not
truncate the file name "Eng.103.Week.1.odp." The "#" seems to be the problem.

I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 WIN XP DE-multilingual version German UI activated
[OOO310m11 (Build 9399)]" (using OS dialogs) and can confirm (more or less) the
reported effect. WRITER also affected, other OOo apps. not tested.

Using OS dialogs, you can save a document as "xxx.xxx.xxxxx.#1.oxx", but Export
will truncate the name to "xxx.xxx.xxxxx.pdf", pls. see attached screenshots
with comments.

You can add missing ".#1" in export dialog without any problems.

Not only PDF export is affected, also other document types (png ...)
"Automatic file name extension" is without influence

OOo dialogs will not accept "Eng.103.Week.#1.odp" as a valid name because of the
"#".

Difference between save as and export dialog is at least inconsistent. I do not
see high priority for this.

@therealorion:
I believe in your report
"Eng.103.Week.#1.odp," should be "Eng.103.Week.#1.odp"?
"Eng.101.Week.pdf." should be "Eng.101.Week.pdf"?
"Eng.103.Week.1.odp." should be "Eng.103.Week.1.odp"?

Yes, that is a typo in my initial post. Very sorry. Didn't mean to confuse the
issue (so to speak).
