Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 106238
Defined page numbering only go up to 255
Last modified: 2009-10-24 10:27:29 UTC
When starting a defined page number in Open Office 3.1, it will not correctly hold through a save and reopen of the document unless the page number is under number 255. Any defined page numbering above 255 does not survive a save and reopen but reverts back to 1 (or in some cases 9) after a save and reopening of the .doc.
P.S. I discovered this when I couldn't get an answer on one of the forums so I decided to see if any page numbers would stick. I then numbered the first page of my document 3, 47, 103, 165, 241, 249 and 255 and all of these numbers stuck in a save and reopen. I also numbered the first page even numbers as well such as: 10, 40, 170, 240 and 250 and 254 which all stuck. But, anything above number 255 won't stick. I also found this problem in Open Office 2.4.
Please attach a sample document showing the problem.
I didn't include an attachment of the problem because when I save the document after defining the page number, it reverts back to either page 1 or page 9 so there is no evidence of the problem. But, if you want an attachment, I created a document, defined the page number as 265, saved it and it reverted to page 9. I will attach it.
P.S. I can't find .doc in the file types when adding the attachment so i will create a .rtf doc and define page number as 265. You will see it as page 1 when you open it. That's what I see.
Created attachment 65569 [details] this page was defined as page 256 but, when reopened reverted to page 1
Why didn't you mention you export to Word? The Word mimtype to attach a doc here is the first entry in the list.
Created attachment 65570 [details] A screen shot before I closed and reopened the .rtf document
Ok. I see it in the list now but, creating the .rtf file has shown me that the same problem persists with .rtf.
