Tools-Options-Writer-MailMerger

I setup my gmail account according to gmail instructions.
As I click on "Test Settings" the Writer freezes completely.
It only occurs with gmail. How could this be fixed?

Did that work for you with versions before 320m8?
Pls. contribute details concerning your email-Settings for Mail Merge
What email account did you test alternatively, and with what settings?
Can you contribute a crash report ID?

AFAIK gmail never worked so far.
Even thunderbird has an extra option for googlemail, which I didn't test, no
gmail account.
I'll investigate, sooner or later.

This is still o/s issue - cannot get gmail to work at all with openoffice, no help 
available anywhere so it's still a problem

Verified with dev300m71 = it works
Server name: smtp.gmail.com or smtp.googlemail.com
Port: 587
SSL is enabled
Fill at Server Authentication the upper part: Outgoing mail server
