Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 108698
Presentation with Notes not saved properly in Power Point file format
Last modified: 2018-01-10 16:26:01 UTC
I create a presentation in Impress. It is slides and instructor notes (View>Notes Page). It is saved as a PPT (Power Point) file. When opened in Power Point and "Notes Page" viewing is picked, the notes appear but the slides are all blank. When viewed in "Normal" slide mode in Power Point, the slides appear but every word is underlined as a misspelled word. Ironically, Impress can open the PPT file it created and the Notes Page views are correct with both notes and slides. Effectively it means I can no longer source my slides in Impress because others with Power Point can not use my slides. A file with the problem is available at about 5meg for attachment on request. Please email the file to me (wg@openoffice.org). Which version of OOo are you using OOO300m1 is quite outdated...
Which version of OOo are you using OOO300m1 is quite outdated..." Indeed it is. I couldn't translate the options on the pulldown list to what OO has in it's "About" window. I looked at it more closely and see that it is 300m15 build 9379 or 3.0.1. The file "Electricity2_Jamb2010_broken_notes.ppt" is attached. What you see is how Impress saved it. The Power Point that cannot read it correctly is 2003 build 11.5529.5606. "01OObug.gif" attached is what the slide looks like. Note the red underlines that indicate misspellings. However PP offers no replacements. "02OObug.gif" is the notes page and, as you can see, the slide image is missing. In OO all that looks correct. I'm running Windows XP Pro in with current patches installed. Sent as e-mail reply to enquiry 27-Jan-2010
Ok, reproducible in current version (OOO320_m11). Thanks for your mail. Reassigned.
I've suffered a somewhat similar problem where my presentation initially had some notes added to eat slide and then that the last slide, wouldn't allow me to enter notes. And then, on the next day, I reopened that presentation and lo and behold the notes were all screwed up on the (inconsistent) on all the other pages as well. I had to make do with my presentation, however, insufficient.I'm using OO version 4.1.5, Microsoft Windows 10 home addition.
