Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 109390
MacOSX look and feel
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:47:43 UTC
The OpenOffice.org Aqua port works wonders. It is really a good and configurable tool box. The opening screen looks good too. What I was really hoping for though is a little bit of a macOSX look and feel to it. It seems really simple, just put gray gradient backgrounds on the toolbars and status bar and give the toolbars a nice mac-looking header when they are popped out. The community can produce/provide a number of icons that would work well with this, but even taking the industrial icon set with a gray gradient toolbar would make OOo Aqua look a lot better.
It seems like this can also be solved by issue 18829, but that's a little bit bigger and will therefore not really get a chance.
Additional comments, Mac Users are notorious for their love of shiny trinkets. If OOo can look as good as any other application on the Mac, it might really stand a chance. There's a new crowd of Mac users (developers) that would really like to see a good Open toolkit and might get the market share of OOo up.
