Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 109454
Bad line height calculation for Japanese fonts
Last modified: 2014-01-26 13:40:36 UTC
There seems to be a problem with line height calculation for Japnese fonts in Open Office 3.2.0. I noticed it because it uses my system font for the UI. The menus and item lists have an unusual line height. I am sending a snapshot with my system menus and Open Office menus. I have noticed that all Japanese fonts have that problem, in the menus and in the editing window - some less than others, but they all display differently in OpenOffice. Firefox had the same problem until I opened the advanced settings and turned browser.display.normal_lineheight_calc_control to "0" (disabling it). What about implementing such an option in Open Office until you are 100% sure the line height calculation works right?

I have also noticed that MS Gothic (Microsoft's) is the only font that displays correctly... But measuring the success of the line height calculation on that font only is not really a good idea...
