Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 109554
All scrollbars are missing/unusable
Last modified: 2017-05-20 10:24:11 UTC
When I open any document, regardless of type (new or old), both the horizontal and vertical scroll bars are missing. The area for the bars is present but shows whatever was displayed at that point on the screen before the document was opened (see attached screenshot). Additionally the scroll bar areas are unusable, as in it is not possible to scroll by clicking where the scroll buttons would be. It is still possible to scroll in the document via the use of the mouse wheel and PageUp/Down still work.

What Linux do you use? What window manager? Where have you downloaded OOo from?
I am using Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) with the Metacity window manager and OOo was installed via the OOo_3.2.0_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz package from the OOo website.
not reproducible. Very likely a bug in the theme used. Try another theme, try without GTK-vclplugin by setting the environment variable SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen (gen for "generic").
Issue was resolved by setting SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
