Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 110100
ability to align frames to a single line
Last modified: 2010-03-20 12:55:27 UTC
Even if it's possible to anchor a frame to character, there's no option to align the frame to the line where the character lies. This makes it impossible for the frame to follow the text flow, as any manual alignment is lost if new lines of text are inserted before the anchoring character. This would be extremely useful when creating text with sideheads, as sideheads are not necessarily aligned to the beginning of a paragraph, but may need to be aligned with a particular word within the paragraph.
Please attach a document illustrating what you mean.
There has been further discussion over this. http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28592&p=130338#p130338 Conclusions are: you can do what I mean with the current version, but the line alignment capabilities are restricted to "to character" anchoring. So there is a general need to expand alignment options.
Does anchoring "as character" solve your problem? There you can set vertical alignment "to baseline" and "character"...
@hkarlo: sorry but I also don't understand what you cannot achieve... It seems that you found a solution on the the forum. As far as I understand your requirement, you want to: - place a frame in the margin - anchor this frame to a character - align the frame vertically with the line where the character is - move the frame automatically when the character moves (due to text input before it) and keep the alignment to the line. Solution: Anchor: To character Position - Vertical: [From Bottom] by [0,00cm] to [Line of text]. Does that work?
