Should the EPUB export get implemented, I suggest similar form to be displayed
as with PDF, with some conversion options available.
According to this great guide http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52 

one of them (enabled by default) should be the "Discard page numbering".

If enabled, any special symbol of "page number" or "total pages" anywhere in
document should be discarded during export processing (but NOT in the
originating document).
