Selecting objects of different types inside a frame (for example another frame and a picture) is currently 
not allowed. Being able to select multiple objects of different types would allow a greater speed and 
precision when editing the content of a frame.

I do not see this as new problem, when the objects are inside a frame. The
underlying problem is already tracked in issue 30523. Perhaps you vote there to
enhance writers edit engine?
