Description Stefan Weigel 2010-04-27 22:32:18 UTC
Found this bug in OOO320m16.

I can insert data into a query, the data is stored, but not shown and I get an
error message "No data is available".

(Attention: This is NOT a duplicate of #108390 or #108390 is wrongly marked as

(1) Create a new database
(2) Create a new table "Table1". Fields are:
    - "ID" (Number) / Primary Key
    - "Text" (Text)
(3) Create a new query: SELECT * FROM "Table1" WHERE "ID" = 1
(4) Save, close an reopen the query
(5) Try to insert data.

Result: You get the Error message "Error inserting the new record - No data is
available" However, the new record is stored in the table!
Comment 1 Stefan Weigel 2010-04-27 22:34:17 UTC
This problem does not occur in OOo 3.1.1 --> regression
Comment 2 Mechtilde 2010-04-28 07:24:59 UTC
@ msc

pleaase have a look I want to nominate it as a stopper
Comment 3 ocke.janssen 2010-04-28 08:03:34 UTC
A work around would be to use a parameter

SELECT * FROM "Table1" WHERE "ID" = ?

and set it with 1

Due to the short time frame for 3.2.1 and the possible work around I would like
to set this one to 3.3.
Comment 4 marc.neumann 2010-04-28 08:20:10 UTC
confirm and send to the right developer.

@sweigel, mechtilde : what should happened when you insert data which does not
fit the query criterion?
Comment 5 Stefan Weigel 2010-04-28 08:25:14 UTC

The problem is, that existing applications using forms and macros do not run
anymore, due to this bug. People, who got the "No data is available" message,
where all told: "This is issue 108390." So they didn´t upgrade to OOo 3.2.0 and
were waiting for 3.2.1. Now it turns out, that the fix for 108390 does not solve
their problem. :-(
Comment 6 Stefan Weigel 2010-04-28 08:28:19 UTC

When you insert data which does not fit the query criterion, it should show up
in the grid as well, until the query is closed and reopened. That´s the
behaviour of prior versions of OOo Base and it´s the behaviour of other
comparable database applications.

Comment 7 Stefan Weigel 2010-04-28 11:39:51 UTC
May I drag your attention to issue 109898, that was reported already 7 weeks
ago. It seems to have the same root cause, but hasn´t been recognized much yet.
Again, issue 108390 did NOT fix this almost similar problem. But poeple were
assuming, that all these "No data is available" cases would have the same cause
and would be handled by issue 108390.

Comment 9 Dotan Cohen 2010-05-02 12:38:32 UTC
The attached file is a working test case. It contains a Base database with a
table and a form. The table has five fields, one of which is a primary key. The
primary key field is set to "AutoValue: Yes", all the other fields are set to
"Entry Required: no". The form has fields for all the fields except for the
primary key. When trying to submit a form, the error is generated yet the data
is inserted.
Comment 10 Stefan Weigel 2010-05-02 14:22:30 UTC

The bug described by your test case has already been fixed by issue 108930. The
fix can be verified in OOO320m16. However, this is about another problem, very
similar, but still present.

oj presented a patch the other day. Hopefully this can be integrated soon.
