Description kelvine 2003-02-03 13:03:29 UTC
As an enhancement suggestion may I suggest the following.

The current spreadsheet database functions only work on the spreadsheet's
database area.

What I would like is the ability to use all the Calc database functions
(dsum, dget etc) but with the range being direct from the datasource (F4).
That is for example, the ability to sum up the sales for the month direct from
the datasource and return a single cell result into the spreadsheet.

When talking about the datasource I am also saying both tables and queries.

This would mean people could more easily extract information from their
external datasources for manipulation within Calc.

They could more easily use OpenOffice.org to produce management reports from
core business data.

I noticed a number of people wanting better database facilities to help
migrate from Microsoft Office to OpenOffice.org and I felt this might help
convert some applications.

The other advantage of this approach is it makes the external data more
accessible whilst not being restricted by the 32K row limit.

Hope this helps.
