Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 111730
Document locked by other user -> where is the info about the user who currentyl edit the document?
Last modified: 2014-02-04 17:37:25 UTC
OOO Version v3.2 OOO320m12 (Build 9483) - German translation OS (32bit): Windows XP SP3 (up-to-date patches) JRE (32bit): I'm currently using 1.6.0_20, but older versions of JRE 1.6 doesn't seem to have any influence on the issue. File Location: Doesn't seem to matter. Issue occures on local NTFS volume and samba shared volume (mapped withe a drive letter). DESCRIPTION: ============ If someone wants to open a document (which is currently locked by another user) OpenOffice v3.2 simply open the document in read-only mode. That is okay, but "normal" users doesn't get any info about the user who currently edit the file. If the user try to use the "edit document" function a messagebox is shown: 1) there might not be enough rights to edit the document (which is definitely not the case!) 2) user gets asked if he wants to work with an copy of the document BUT: There is not information about the user who currently edits & locks the document although there is a OpenOffice-Lock file which contains something like that: UserName,WorkstationName/UserName,Workstationname,20.05.2010 17:19,file:///C:/Dokumente%20und%20Einstellungen/Username/Anwendungsdaten/OpenOffice.org/3; Where is the following Message from OpenOffice v3.1 gone?? "Document file '%DOCUMENTNAME' is locked for editing by:\n\n%FIRSTUSERNAME %LASTUSERNAME (since %LASTSAVEDDATE %LASTSAVEDTIME)\n\nOpen document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." => Why is that message not shown anymore (if a user tries to open an already locked file)?
I confirm this bug on Windows XP SP3 using OpenOffice 3.2 and 3.2.1 on a Samba share. This is a regression, as OpenOffice 3.1 does show the "Document file '%DOCUMENTNAME' is locked for editing by: ..." message as appropriate.
