In the OOo 3.3 will be new database engine, HSQLDB 2.0. It will be in cws hsqldb19. 

If you open these type of odb file, in OOo older than 3.3 (OOo 3.2 and 3.2.1),
you get an error message:

"The connection to the data source "filename" could not be established. - translated

But the next part, not translated (I checked in Hungarian, Swedish and Russian OOo:
The connection could not established. The database created by a newer version of
OpenOffice.org.
