Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 112614
docx: loop on load of a specific document
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:18 UTC
Files saved in office 2010 (still using the beta) docx in compatability mode will not open in OO 3.2 running on ubuntu 10.4. The files open fine in google docs and in office 2010, so they are not corrupted. Docx files saved in windows 2007 open fine. When I try to open a msoffice 2010-saved file, OO silently fails. If I open from a directory, OO never opens, and if I open the file from an already open instance of the OO word processor via ctrl-o it freezes oo and nothing opens and I have to force a quit and restart.
Please first try, if this also happens with the OOo 3.3 dev build 300m83, where some fixes regarding the described problem have been integrated. If the problem still occurs, please attach a sample document created with Offic14 to this issue. Thanks for supporting us!
Created attachment 70235 [details] word 2010 file won't open in oo
oops posted before I was finished writing when I attached the docx file above...I have installed OOo 3.3 dev build 300m83 and the problem still exists. I can open the file (Overlooking the past.docx) in ms 14, and in google docs, so the doc I think is fine. When I try to open from OO 33 dev 300m83, I get the same thing as in 3.2: OO word proc page freezes and must be forced to quit. I then have to manually kill all oo processes before word proc will open again.
@hbrinkm: loop on load.
MRU-OD: does not look like an import problem. The document name is shown, so import finished. Looks like it hangs when Writer tries to format the footnotes.
I get this behavior on pretty much everything I format in ms14, but since most of my stuff has footnotes, it may just be with footnotes. I would not rule out format troubles, because all word 2007 docx files, with footnotes, open in oo3.2 fine. Only if I saved in 2010 do they hang. I can provide more example docs if it helps.
The problem is only with docx files from ms14 with footnotes, and I use the zotero bibliography app to write footnotes, so I'll mention it over there too.
