Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1127
AutoCompletion -> tab to next cell
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
Hi guys, In a spreadsheet, when information is entered from left to right, the autocompletion cannot be locked in by a tab. In order to use the AutoCompletion assistance, the user must press return. And then to return to the desired cell, the user must arrow over and arrow up. I just checked M$ XP. There, Return is used to lock in Auto Complete in a word document. It is also used in a spreadsheet, sending the user to the cell below. However, there is the additional option in XP to lock in the auto complete and go to the cell to the right using the Tab key. It is desirable to have both the Return and Tab keys function in this way. Thanks for hearing me out. Michelle
To enter something into cells from left to right you could change the behaviour of the entrymethod (TOOLS-OPTIONS-SPREADSHEET-GENERAL-PRESS ENTER TO MOVE SELECTION) from down to right. But I agree that a tab should accept the autocompletion =>Enhancement

just saw that issue#9501 and issue#572 for writer seem similar. Duplicates?
Add <TAB> to the list of "TOOLS-OPTIONS-SPREADSHEET-GENERAL-PRESS ENTER TO MOVE SELECTION" dopd down list. Do make only an option, not default.
