In SO I very much liked the name/date/size... sorting in the "Open" window by
simply clicking on the respective field. I cannot imagine this has deliberately
been removed in OO.

Hi Peter! I think this is a basic function of a file-open dialog in the 21. 
century and must work in office too. (it always did)
