Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 113354
Saving on a WebDAV share leaves behind truncated files
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:50:32 UTC
When storing files on a WebDAV share, saving terminates successfully. However, upon closing the document, the file gets truncated and is left behind with a length of zero bytes. The bug has been experienced in Calc and Writer, leaving room for the assumption that all OpenOffice components are equally affected. Steps to reproduce: (1) Create new file and store on WebDAV server. The file should be safed successfully. (2) Close the document. Still, the document should be intact. (3) Reopen the document, modify it and save it. Do not close it yet. File is saved successfully. (4) Close the document. The file has now been corrupted and exhibits a size of zero bytes. Reproduced with Apache (Server: Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.4-2ubuntu5.10 with Suhosin-Patch mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g) and Alfresco 3.2r2. Client side running OS X 10.6.4 with latest patch level. NeoOffice seems to have developed a workaround for this issue, see http://trinity.neooffice.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7979.
We are also observing this behavior. Mac OS X 10.6.7 (though User-Agent reports "WebDAVFS/1.8.2 (01828000) Darwin/10.7.0 (i386)"), OpenOffice.org 3.2. Unfortunately, this renders OOo unusable for us at this time.
We observed this behavior over and over again: - When opening/saving an OpenOffice document through we Windows-7 Webdav folder - When opening/saving an OpenOffice document through we Windows-7 OpenOffice folder - Across two Apache servers with different versions of mod_webdav - OpenOffice 3.3.0 After saving, documents often end up truncated to 0 bytes length
